In 1939, Christopher Rowland & Company began as Estate Agents, Surveyors and Auctioneers in Denham Buckinghamshire.

During the 1930’s there had been a boom in housing, unprecedented since Victorian times. “Metroland”, including places like Ruislip and Eastcote, changed from being somewhat quaint villages into major suburban centres. After a second office was opened in Rickmansworth, there then followed a period of expansion between 1946 and 1950 with offices being opened in Northwood, Beaconsfield and, a little later, Amersham, Henley-on-Thames, Gerrards Cross, Chesham and Great Missenden.
